An 84-Year-Old Optimist with an Attitude of a 14-Year-Old!
As a man of 84 years, I’m making just one resolution for 2020; I want to live this year with the attitude of a 14-year-old boy.
Awaken to Opportunities and Appreciation
This year, I promise to begin each day thrilled to be alive. The world was filled with opportunity at 14 and I awoke free of worries each morning, excited to face the new day ahead. That is what I resolve to do once more.
In 2020, I pledge to continue my ongoing admiration, appreciation, and fascination for women. Even after 54 years of marriage, I can’t promise to understand females, but I’ll continue to adore their mystique.
Speak About Interesting Things
I vow not to speak about my aches and pains, ailments, ointments, or doctor appointments this year. I didn’t talk about my health when I was 14 and I’m not going to do so now. I learned a lesson long ago when I overheard a friend of my wife tell someone, “If you’re sick enough, I’ll take you to the emergency room. Otherwise, please shut up.” Her remark may have been rude, but I got her point: There are better things to talk about.
No Worries
I choose to remain excited about the remaining days with my family and friends. In my youth, I wasn’t concerned about the future. I felt cherished and protected by my loving family and friends who had forecast my unlimited opportunities ahead. Now, at 84 years, knowing my future years are limited, I’m still not going to worry about it in 2020.
84-Year-Old Optimist!
Yes, I resolve to look at life this year as an 84-year-old optimist. I’ll try to look at the world through the eyes of my 14-year-old self who didn’t have a care in the world, but I’ll keep remembering how fortunate I am to have gained all my wisdom from a lifetime of unforgettable experiences.
