Aging Gracefully as a Gymnast

Aging Gracefully as a Gymnast!

Posted on February 19, 2020February 19, 2020 by Kathryn Eyring

Spotlight on Chyral, who is definitely aging gracefully, as a GYMNAST!

I was introduced to Chyral when she was competing on the Westlake, Ohio team for a Walking and Wellness Challenge, hosted by University Hospitals. At 67 years, this unstoppable woman does NOT fear competition.

Cheryl is a retired histologist and uses her time now to enjoy her grandson daily, along with gymnastics and other social opportunities at the Sokol Greater Cleveland, Home of the Czech Cultural Center.

Daughter Started, Chyral Followed

As a mom, Chyral became familiar with Sokol’s gymnastics program about 25 years ago when she registered her daughter for classes. After a few years of observing and volunteering as a helper, Chyral decided to give it try, too.

“It’s never too late to start. But, once you start, never quit!”

Aging gracefully as a gymnast, Chryal says “Never quit!”

Take a moment to enjoy watching Chyral’s graceful moves at the gym!

Admittedly, gymnastics becomes more challenging for Chyral as she is aging, but she keeps going and reminds herself to stretch daily. She spends a few days a week at the Center practicing and she actively competes with others in her age category.

There’s More…

But that’s not all… Chyral also does Czech folk dancing once a week!

And she babysits her grandson daily!

I love Chyral’s dedication to living life fully. She exemplifies grace, perfect posture, and amazing balance. How about a round of applause for Chyral!

What a way to get your exercise I think that is just great anyway you can keep moving is a way to keep yourself going . At 67 I danced 5 days a week and I enjoyed it so much and you feel so good. Great job Chyral. Keep up the good work.

Loved this piece on the gymnast. Very unique and interesting!

I know you have to do the life planning issues, and that is very important BUT

The gymnast piece is fun and unusual, telling all of us that we can reach new heights.
    Really enjoyed it!
