Aging Gracefully TV Anniversary!

Posted on October 2, 2020October 2, 2020 by Kathryn Eyring

Aging Gracefully TV’s 3-Year Anniversary

In October, Aging Gracefully TV celebrates its three-year anniversary! The series launched in October 2017 on community television with 85-year-old Pat Heinke as the first inspiring guest.

Three years later, Aging Gracefully TV continues its mission to find interesting, relevant, and informative content for adults seeking a long, healthy life without regrets!

How Did Aging Gracefully TV Begin?

Pat Heinke was a student in Kathryn Eyring’s Strength & Balance classes. Kathryn was impressed and inspired by the way Pat drove herself to continual learning, activities, and offering her talents in service to others.

Kathryn explains, “Pat was my initial motivation for Aging Gracefully TV. People like Pat are guiding examples of health and longevity.”

This original interview was 50 minutes long. Since then, the show’s format has continued to evolve and most interviews are now just 10- 15 minutes long. The video below is a condensed 12-minute version of Pat’s wisdom.

Celebrating the 3rd anniversary of Aging Gracefully TV. This is a condensed version of the first episode.

Aging Gracefully TV Sees the Value of Older Adults

What happens to us between 45 years and 100 or more? Actively aging adults offer us a roadmap to a long life of success!

Longevity is NOT the Big Goal

The bigger picture includes vitality, a fullness of life, and an unstoppable personal sense of self-value. Feelings of high worth come from activities – at any level or ability – that make other people feel good!

Loving ourselves and others is intertwined and inseparable as we are aging gracefully.

What is Pat Heinke Doing at 88 Years?

Pat Heinke, at 88, maintains most of the same activities as at the time of her interview. She rarely misses attending two Strength & Balance classes each week – although now they are online versions. She continues to teach Tai Chi (23 years now) online without accepting payment. She has exchanged instruments from the heavy cello to the smaller viola and she anticipates playing in concerts again. She is a GEM of a friend.

I enjoyed reading the article about Pat Heinke at age 87. Very impressive! Recently, I visited the Kindergarten classes during their Halloween Parties. As I read them my favorite stories, they were very attentive and responsive to the characters in the stories. Even though I am retired, it was such a delightful experience and plan to return .
