Here’s a game for children that doesn’t cost a penny!
I tried this game with my youngest grandson and two of his young friends.
This is a garden game for children!
When summer weeds are growing but the grass isn’t, your children, grandchildren, young neighbors or friends will enjoy learning how to identify weeds and have fun at the same time.
Do you have a gardening book that identifies garden weeds? If not, the internet will work!
You’ll also need a copier or printer, and scissors appropriate for the children’s ages.
Maybe you have gardening books that identify weeds? If not, simply go to your computer or tablet and do a search for “common weeds.”
Identify which weeds are in your yard, copy the pictures, and label them with the correct names. Print 2 copies.
Give one page to the kids for their hunt and set the other on the picnic table, patio or wherever you assign as your “home base.” When they find a weed, they snip it and set it on the correlating picture at home base!
Make teams with the children or have each child hunt alone.
It could even be the kids’ team versus you! That’s what we did.
This free game for the children kept them busy for over an hour!
And if you’re wondering, I didn’t offer prizes. It was just simply fun!
