Sam Boggess is still recovering after a stroke
Recovering after a stroke isn’t always easy, but Sam’s continued persistence keeps him moving forward.
And persistence begins with a decision.
Sam made a decision to continue his recovery, regardless of how long it would take. Sam owns this decision. It’s part of who he is. I often hear him say things like, “I am a positive person,” “I am resilient,” or “I’m not stopping!”
Unstoppable after a stroke
Sam sets goals and then goes for them! “I still do everything, but it just takes me longer,” Sam says.
People who have had strokes are now encouraged to strive for continual progress. Research has shown that the neuroplasticity of the brain allows the brain to rewire itself.
This persistent man is definitely not a victim. In fact, he’s a shining example of accepting his limitations at any moment, yet he won’t let them stop him!
Four years later, Sam still never misses his exercise classes. He doesn’t try for perfection… only perfect attendance, and he improvises as he finds necessary.
Sam is willing to try new things, which includes new therapies to increase his mobility and decrease muscle tightness. He stays upbeat and positive and knows his attitude will help him progress further.
Sam continues to challenge himself. Are YOU ready for a challenge? Click to read about upcoming challenges!
