With NO disrespect intended towards this amazing centenarian, THIS episode might make you laugh a bit. BUT most of all, it really should make you THINK!
Challenged with hearing loss, Virginia refuses to wear her hearing aids anymore, saying they’re just a nuisance. I tried to lean in and speak loudly enough for Virginia to hear but that didn’t work very well. However, she is SO tuned in to her daughter, Vanessa, that she doesn’t seem to miss a thing that SHE says!
If Virginia Sperling is TIRED, she has earned it! She has lived through SO much! Born in 1918, Virginia has lived through the Spanish Flu, World War I and II, The Great Depression, the beginning of the big screen, television, and the digital revolution! Can YOU imagine?
Please enjoy this special episode of Aging Gracefully TV! Then, I hope you will truly take the time to consider…
What will YOU be like if you live to be 100 years of age?
Is there anyone who could possibly be so devoted, patient and loving to take care of YOU at 100?
Who would be your “boss,” as Virginia calls her caregiver?
Daughter Vanessa says her mom has always been “feisty.” Could you be as “feisty” as Virginia at 100?
Can you imagine the LOSS of friends, family, and abilities you would have suffered through by 100 years? What can we learn from this?
Consider how difficult Vanessa’s position is – as a daughter AND caregiver!
Please join me in wishing Virginia a HAPPY 100th BIRTHDAY!
And please feel free to make a comment, encouraging Vanessa, telling her how impressed you are with her attentiveness and kindness to her mother!
