Which of the following is the BADDEST of the Bad Poetry?

BAD Poem #1

I want to live with no regrets

But sometimes I get so upset

You see I want to do good

Do all that I should

So bad habits I need to forget

And new goals need to be met

Then along a straight path I’ll be set

BAD Poem #2

I’m writing a book called “Final Affairs”

But it’s not about death, wills and heirs

I interviewed a woman most stately

And asked “are you getting any lately”

My face now undergoing rehab and repairs

BAD Poem #3

I once had an uncle named Zak

Who squatted too close to a trap.

While fleeing in pain, reached the end of its chain

and now my uncle’s…. my aunt.

BAD Poem #4

Once there was a teacher named Kathryn

Who chose another class to drop in

She showed up strong

And biked on long

But knew her own class was better than Spin.

BAD Poem #5

Haiku is great fun:

Five / seven / five syllables.

This one, not quite.

BAD Poem #6

The lightning bug is really neat.

He has a bright and blinky hiney.

What if cows were thus endowed?

Thank goodness lightning bugs are tiny.

BAD Poem #7

Moved alone to Westlake, you see

Wondering how well it would be for me

Went to a luncheon

And while I was munchin’

Discovered Aging Gracefully tv

BAD Poem #8

The flags will fly

The bells will chime

It’s time again for ________’s new rhyme

He stands out

Among the crowd

Which happily smiles and shouts out loud

“Happy Birthday, _________,

You’ve made it again!”

BAD Poem #9

It was Christmas of 1953

Dad got a Philco for us to see

It worked just fine

‘til 1969

BAD Poem #10

My first Haiku try

Would make a real poet sigh

No talent, this guy

Don’t know about you

I can’t even spell Haiku

Write one? Just can’t do

Bad poem #7 actually is a good poem with solid rhythm, rhyme and clear meaning that we all relate to. It has to have my vote.

Love it! I agree on the solid rhythm.

Fun to think a recent luncheon might have inspired this one!

    So true #5

    Seeing through duality
    Sorting bads from goods
    Makes shades of true reality
    Into simple oughts and shoulds.

    Nuance echoes options
    That offer shades of gray,
    So badness has redemptions
    And goodness only sway.

Thus my vote for Poem #5
As the baddest of them all
    Speaks of syllables contrived
With something missing in the end, that may not rhyme with “all,” –such is life.

    1. Michelle Payne says:
      August 16, 2021 at 1:39 pm

So fun to read your vote! Yes, to #5.
