Gardening and exercise go together!
Kathryn Eyring and Michelle Payne are celebrating National Gardening and Exercise Day with a garden tour. Come along to see what’s growing at the beginning of June. There’s a lot of gardening season ahead for this year so exercising and proper movements for mobility, strength, and flexibility are important in order to stay injury-free!
Kathryn eats most of her meals from her own garden as she keeps growing vegetables all year long. Through the winter she uses grow lights indoors and cold frames outside so fresh, healthy food is readily available even on the coldest days.
Michelle Payne is an Occupational Therapist so she is keen on exercise and safety. She says, “I love fitness and I’m trained to look for potential hazards so I had to check out Kathryn’s garden. It’s pretty safe except for that hose that goes across her patio! Fortunately, I get to enjoy her fresh food, too, while we’re working on articles and videos for Aging Gracefully TV and 12 Secrets!”
Michelle explains in this video how gardening burns calories, strengthens the body, and increases dexterity. Additionally, just being outdoors is pleasurable and good for the mind. Enjoy gardening and exercise!

I agree with you Kathryn. I love eating vegetables I grow in my garden. They just seem to taste better! Thanks for all your awesome tips!
Thank you so much for your comment!
Your garden is truly amazing, Kathryn. Your new raised boxes look great. Thank you for sharing it with us. I may not be able to bend as well as you do, but I agree wholeheartedly with you and Michelle because even my little flower garden brings me joy.
Enjoy the fruits of your labor.
Aww, thank you so much for looking at the video. I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Kathryn,
I couldn’t agree more since I just really learned how much energy it takes to do even all the weeding. Lois recently had a back operation so she can not bend for another 2 months. Guess who has been doing all the weeding and planting. I have a great appreciation of all Lois does for our yard and I am so glad she really will enjoy getting back to what she loves.
Ken
I’m sure Lois really appreciates you help!
Kathryn, Michelle, what a wonderful garden tour. Your veggies are huge! So beautiful.
Thank you for taking the time to watch the video. Always appreciate your comments!
